The comedy film "Coming To America", starring Eddie Murphy, is about an African prince named Akeem Joffer who leaves his wealth behind and comes to the United States in hopes of finding a woman he can marry, but most of all love. Released on June 29th, 1988 and directed by John Landis - "Coming To America" was a commercial box-office success, both domestically and worldwide grossing over $128,152,301.
"Coming to America" features Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall in several different roles, which following the success of this film, became a staple in future Eddie Murphy movies such as Norbit and The Nutty Professor. The movie also features an all-star cast including Frankie Faison as Akeem's landlord in Queens, Louie Anderson as Maurice - a McDowell's employee and an unknown Samuel L. Jackson as a foul mouthed robber. Cuba Gooding, Jr. also made his film debut as a barber shop customer in this film with a none speaking role.
