On July 3rd, 1985 one of the greatest '80s movies EVER was released in theaters. Let's review... Back to the Future, a Sci-Fi Adventure film, is about a teenager named Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) who is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd). Marty must make sure his high-school-age parents unite in order to save his own existence and get back to the future. Back to the Future became the most successful film of 1985, grossing over $383 million worldwide and receiving critical acclaim.
Some film facts: The production of the film ultimately used three real DeLoreans. Writers of Back to the Future, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, received a fan letter from John DeLorean after the film's release, thanking them for using his car in the movie.
Amazingly enough the script was rejected 40 times before it was finally green-lit by the studio. From the day the film wrapped to the day it was released in theaters was a mere nine and a half weeks, which is a unprecedentedly short lead time for a major movie release. What we get to see is pure magic.
