Will Tom Cruise return to the big screen as Maverick for Top Gun 2? Fans are still waiting for a Top Gun 2 trailer, picture or shred of news.

Top Gun

Jerry Bruckheimer mentioned in an interview with Digital Spy that the script for Top Gun 2 has been in the works for three decades. He really wants a sequel to happen, even Tom Cruise who played Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the original 1986 film wants to reprise his role as a bold and brave aviator of the US Navy.

However, so far there is no concrete news as to whether or not the rumored Top Gun 2 movie will materialize soon. Don't get mad if you don't find any Top Gun 2 trailers on the Internet because there is none yet. As far as we know, Cruise is very busy filming Mission Impossible 5. (You read right...5).

The latest bit of news we have for now is that the original Top Gun movie director, Tony Scott left the movie's producer and lead actor (Bruckheimer and Cruise, respectively) a concept to work on before his death. The storyline is about drones, which Cruise, as well as Bruckheimer said in the interview, will prove that they are not outdated in the Top Gun 2 movie. Bruckheimer admitted that earlier they tried to develop something out of the plot given by Scott but were not successful. Now they are back to work on it.

Both Jerry Bruckheimer and Tom Cruise are enthusiastic about it so that leaves us with something to look forward to.
